2016 Ficante York Creek
Ficante is a very special blend of grapes traditionally used in port: Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cão and Tinta Amarela.
Dark and brooding, the nose is filled with dense aromas of blackberry compote, brown sugar, star anise, vanilla, and violets. The wine transitions nicely on the palate as flavors of blueberries, espresso, and black cherries are supported by firm tannins and rich texture on its way to a satisfying finish.
York Creek Vineyard, named for the defining feature of the land that flows year round through the property, is located high atop the Mayacamas range of mountains on the western edge of Napa Valley north of St. Helena. Perched at 1250 – 1800 feet above sea level with well-drained soil, its unique position in the Spring Mountain District is well known for producing dark and intensely flavored wines.
