Mother's Day 3-Pack of Reds
2017 Holbrook Mitchell Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon - Truly a classic, single-vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Broad shouldered and strapping, this full-bodied wine has beautiful aromas of dark mountain berry, earthy loam, and subtle leather. On the palate, notes of blackberry compote, mocha and roasted espresso give way to firm and well-integrated tannins for a finish that is pleasingly dry and lingering. The Holbrook Mitchell Vineyard is situated in the western hills of Yountville, an AVA since 1999. This site has been continually farmed since 1878 as orchards, dairy, and finally vineyard. The mature vines struggle in shallow soil to yield low quantities of expressive grapes. The area offers a unique combination in Napa both with soil and climate. The soil is sedimentary in origin, gravelly alluvial earth with rock. Climatically, the cool marine currents from San Pablo Bay to the south are trapped when they reach what are known as the Yountville Mounts, keeping the air naturally cooler even on the warmest summer days and allowing the grapes plenty of time to develop distinct flavors and show off the local “terroir.”
2017 Morisoli Vineyard Zinfandel - We have been making Zinfandel from the Morisoli Vineyard since 1986 and have been the only producer working with these grapes since 1988. The old fieldblend vines, Rutherford Bench terroir, and traditional farming practices always create a truly distinctive Zinfandel. The 2017 Morisoli Zinfandel is a blockbuster! Amazing concentration with a subtle elegance that has been the hallmark of this wine since day one. Aromas of sweet briary fruit lead to flavors of sloe plums, raspberries, and red apples. The wine is seamless on the palate with an earthy texture that lets you know this is a true Rutherford wine. The vineyard is located between Niebaum and Manley Lanes, at the base of Mt. Saint John and in the heart of the Rutherford Bench. This area has a worldwide reputation for growing great Cabernet Sauvignon. The light, dusty, gravely soil here produces grapes with vibrant flavor and impeccable balance. The resulting wines express equal parts power and finesse. An Elyse wine from this vineyard will have great longevity but is also very drinkable when released. Each year, since 1986, we produce a Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel from this very special place in Napa Valley.
2019 C'est si Bon - C’est Si Bon in French means “It’s so good!” Say no more! A bright, fresh nose of ripe raspberry, rose petals, and cherry pie give way to a palate of sweet ranier cherries, cranberries, and a hint of cinnamon. Subtle soft tannins allow this verastile wine to be served with a slight chill and enjoyed in the summer months. A combination of unique vineyard sites, each parcel adds to the layers of this wine and its polished, approachable character. Spanning four appellations of Northern California, this wine is proof that sometimes the sum is greater than its parts.
